Feel out these super realistic fan-successful 3D renders of World of Warcraft's coolest city
World of Warcraft's capital cities are all iconic, but the optimal one (for the Horde) has always been Thunder Bluff. Built on a series of towering mountains jutting out over the herder plains of Mulgore and adjunctive by rope bridges, Boom Bluff is simply exciting. Or, quite, IT was when I for the first time started playing the game over a decennium ago. Nowadays, Thunder Bluff—while still majestic—is showing its age along with most of World of Warcraft's oldest zones. So it's chill to insure 3D artist Aleksandr Timoshenko give Sca Bluff a realistic makeover in Unreal Engine.
You can see Timoshenko's work in glutted HD on their portfolio, but I've included respective of the screenshots below. The whole matter was made using Counterfeit Locomotive with Quixel's Megascans plugin. It's a pretty cool tool that gives artists access to a ton of ultra HD photos that can constitute used as textures in materials for 3D environments. It's a great deal used by big-budget studios, but it's neat to see how solo artists can leverage it too. The scene, Timmoshenko explains, even has dynamic lighting—though the screenshots atomic number 2 joint are whol situated at closely the same time of day. Would love to construe with a nice Roar Bluff sunset, though.
It's some pretty amazing mold work, peculiarly when look the side-by-incline comparisons of Timoshenko's figure out with what Boom Bluff really looks like in-game. Patc everything is mostly in the right topographic point, the lack of color and harsher dividing line gives Timoshenko's version of Thunder Direct a decidedly bleak vibration. That's definitely a big difference from how colorful and vibrant the City is in World of Warcraft. I'm frankly not quite sure how I feel about it, but it's always cool to see soul reinterpret a setting I've expended hundreds of hours in over the years.
If you wish to check out more of Timoshenko's stuff, you prat get word their portfolio here.
